Feeling ALIVE on day FIVE

What an experience this has been! Feeling so energized throughout my day and actually looking FORWARD to making it to the studio.

Few updates:
Last time I had noted that my knee was clicking every time I bent it past 90 degrees. Yesterday morning (on day 4), when walking up the stairs to yoga I was in shock to see that a problem that had been so consistent for almost a week was COMPLETELY GONE! I’m so excited and am really starting to believe in the magic of yoga…almost feel as great as this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qX9FSZJu448

Got my new mat— made such a difference tonight in my practice! Before I had been struggling just to stay still in downdog because I was struggling with keeping my hands steady on the mat. But with my brand new “THE MAT” from the notorious lululemon, I was able to focus on more important things than my hands sliding all over the place!

Yesterday’s practice and today’s was led by Justin, who I haven’t taken class with in a very long time. His classes are really challenging! I went to a 7:30 pm class tonight because of my back to back collegeclasses. Tonight in class he said, “Night Time is the Right Time.” More like, no time like the present…but still very true!

My **NEW** mat tonight at my what seemed like midnight yoga class..

I’ve got a 9:30 a.m. class lined up for tomorrow, but its a new one for me, called “Power FUNdamentals,” it will be nice to get back to the basics for a bit! I’m still sore…this could potentially be a soreness to last throughout the month? I sure hope not, but will be sure to report back. Regardless I have no doubt that it will push my limits and stir up a sweat pool for my new, moisture-wicking, anti-bacterial mat to soak up ;)

I’ve also been having a great time with my food creations. I’m running low on resources though and a Trader Joe’s trip is definitely in order. I’m loving colorful meals. Also getting very into Pinterest for recipes…its just a matter of going back to pick out which ones I actually want— and can do!

My lunch yesterday (Sunday) before work— took about 5 minutes. Mediterranean whole-wheat wrap from TJ’s with Whole Foods’ cranberry tuna salad, red bell peppers, tomatoes, mustard, avocado, salt’n’peppa, and some cucumbers on the side.

Made a very similar wrap today for school as I did yesterday. Nom-ming outside of my class in my high top chucks…classic and delicious.

Had to make a slight recovery from last nights Tie Dye Date party. Everyone in my sorority Tie Dye’s a shirt for themselves and a date— its a fun night and has been a “tradition” date party sinceat least1991, we found photos to prove it! Too cool!

My friends and I before the madness began…

I feel like I’m starting to get a hang of this whole “blogging” thing. I’m not sure if Blogspot would have been a better place to do this? I might look into switching over there I feel like it might be a better interface for comments and such? UPDATE: SWITCHED TO BLOGSPOT! YAY! It is somewhat of a timely process and being a student and a working girl I definitley have to make an effort to sit down and write!

These five days have been awesome and I think is the first time that I’ve actually set out to do something (such as a diet) and have done it with almost 100% integrity (alcohol doesn’t work in favor of a diet, BTW.) Not only do I feel alive as a result of all the yoga I’m doing but just the fact that I’m so dedicated to this goal and to crushing it makes everything in my day seem a lot brighter.

That’s all for now!

It was great, sweaty as always and I am REALLY sore! My core and my legs are killing but its that good kind of miserable feeling, you know? Just kept telling myself to persevere and it would pay off…and it did.

What made it even more difficult was that my mat got destroyed by glowsticks at the lululemon athletica Calabasas’s ONTHE12th event…but it was well worth it. That being said, my mat is SO slippery— I’ll be getting a new one tomorrow at work! Yay.

My slippery mat…soon to be RIP.

Just as an FYI, my right knee has been acting up and clicks every time I bend it past 90 degrees. Doesn’t hurt, but is just uncomfortable. My doctor told me to just take it easy when doing lunges and such, and I will have to go to a few physical therapy sessions to tighten a muscle on the inside of my thigh, so that it can pull my kneecap back into place…gross.

I was nervous about running the 5k I had planned because of my knee however, IT WAS AWESOME! I felt no pain or awkwardness which was great. My sorority was running a race in support of ovarian cancer. I’ve done it the past three years but this was the first year that I actually had experience as a RUNNER, so it made the run a lot more interesting and a lot more competitive. I was kind of bummed when I crossed the finish line however, to see that the run was only 2.65 instead of 3.1…kind of got ripped off…at least it was for a great cause!

Race Stats!

Race Ready!

Anyway, after my 2 hour workout adventure, it was time to shower and celebrate my best friend Sara’s birthday! Which consisted of a lot of beer…way to completely negate all the hard work I put in that morning. We had a great day and are now watching Crazy, Stupid, Love, baking cookies, and wearing face masks. Great end to the night!

Me and my giiirls at the bar!

Tomorrow’s class is from 10:30-11:45, then am running home to shower and head back downtown to work a five hour shift! Should be a great day.

That’s all for now…yogi-in-training…OUT!
